MMDVM and Yaesu System Fusion (YSF)

Yaesu’s digital mode is a 12.5kHz C4FM digital signal, commonly called Fusion.

It is available in a number of their mobile and hand-hold radio’s including (hand-held only list):

  • FT1DR (discontinued)
  • FT2DR (discontinued)
  • FT3DR
  • FT5DR
  • FT70DR

The MMDVM’s are very versatile in that they can receive a RF signal in one mode and connect to any of the other modes.

The Stump Knocker talkgroup is on the TGIF DMR network. It is not connected to other networks directly, so the only way to be on that talkgroup is with a DMR signal.

YSF2DMR

On the configuration page of you MMDVM (pi-star.local in your browser) select YSF MODE – this enables your MMDVM to send and receive a Yaesu System Fusion (YSF) signal. Also select YSF2DMR. Then APPLY CHANGES.

Once your dashboard resets you will now have an additional box on the configuration – Yaesu System Fusion Configuration.

In YSF Startup Host select YSF00002 – Link YSF2DMR from the dropdown.

In DMR Master select TGIF_Network

In DMR TG enter 29185 (Stump Knocker)

Then Apply Changes

Set your Fusion radio to the simplex frequency for your MMDVM and make sure it is in Fusion mode (not FM).

Now when you key up your C4FM Fusion digital signal is received by the MMDVM, and sent through to the Stump Knocker DMR talkgroup on the TGIF DMR network.

Please considering joining as a Patreon, it helps offset the costs of web hosting and more (next month I have to lay out over $250 for the annual security fee for the site). Thanks
