While not as formally codified as SALUTE (Size, Activity, Location, Unit, Time, Equipment) or SPOT reports, ACE/LACE is a practical, widely taught tool in U.S. Army infantry training, referenced in field manuals like FM 3-21.8 (The Infantry Rifle Platoon and Squad) for sustainment and reorganization phases. Squad members report individual status to their team leader using color codes, who aggregates it into a squad-level report for the platoon sergeant or leader.
