This is an awareness course — two lessons, open to any member who’s completed SEC-02. It doesn’t ask you to act operationally. That’s what SEC-07 (Watching the Watchers: Operations) is for, and SEC-03 is exactly what that course is built on.

How a professional surveillance team organizes and moves — roles, the box, the leap-frog — and why understanding it is the foundation for everything that follows.

LESSON 02

Recognizing and Understanding the Threat

Telling fixed, mobile, and technical surveillance apart, what collectors are actually after, and the vulnerabilities every surveillance effort shares no matter how well it’s run.

SEC-03-01

Team Structure and Method

Why this course exists relative to SEC-02. Team roles — eyeball, floaters, control. The box and leap-frog formations, and the Camp X SOE tradecraft behind them. 4 knowledge check questions.

SEC-03-02

Recognizing and Understanding the Threat

Fixed vs. mobile vs. technical surveillance in practice. What collectors are looking for and how that shapes their method. The surveillance team’s own vulnerabilities — repetition, choke points, reaction to the unexpected, communication signature. Scenario exercise. 5 knowledge check questions.

After SEC-03

If your group designates you for an active intelligence or security role, SEC-07: Watching the Watchers — Operations picks up exactly where this course ends. It teaches you to design and run a surveillance detection route, operate as part of a countersurveillance team, recognize technical collection, and report what you find in a form your group can act on.
