Hormuz tensions resume. Two vessels — including a Qatari LNG carrier — were struck by projectiles near Oman today, the first renewed kinetic exchange since late June. Diplomatic talks remain on hold pending Iran’s ongoing state funeral proceedings. Oil markets reacted immediately.

Cottonwood Fire containment nearly doubles. The nation’s largest active wildfire, burning in Utah, is now 47% contained versus 23% just five days ago. Evacuation orders remain active for several communities — containment progress doesn’t mean it’s safe to return.

Ebola case fatality rate continues climbing. The DRC/Uganda outbreak now shows a
32.4% case fatality rate, up from31% last cycle, with 1,561 confirmed cases and 506 deaths. US risk remains very low.
