Communications Training Series
COM-03: Communications Security (COMSEC)
Protecting what you say, who knows you are talking, and your ability to keep communicating under pressure — the discipline behind reliable, secure group communications.
Recommended before starting: COM-01: PACE Communications Planning. This course assumes you already have a working communications plan in place and are ready to secure it.
What this course covers: the four domains of COMSEC, physical security and key management, cryptographic fundamentals, authentication basics, and the U.S. regulatory framework that determines what is actually legal on your group’s radios. Deeper dedicated courses exist for EMCON (COM-04), Cryptographic Security (COM-09), One-Time Pads (COM-07), and Authentication & Challenge/Reply (COM-06) — this course touches each of those topics and tells you where to go for the full depth.
