Today’s Daily Threat Report is live — and we’re releasing it alongside our 2026 Hurricane Season Assessment.
Here’s the three-line picture from this cycle:
– Israel and Iran exchanged direct missile and drone strikes overnight for the first time since the April ceasefire. A halt is in place as of this afternoon, but the framework is critically damaged. The Hormuz blockade enters Day 57 with no signed deal.
– A G3-class geomagnetic storm is arriving today — NOAA SWPC has a Watch in effect. Combined with 18 NOAA Weather Radio transmitters currently out of service or degraded across the US, EMCOMM posture is degraded going into tonight.
– Severe weather is active across the Central and Southern Plains. Tornado, wind, and large hail threat centered on Oklahoma City and Dallas through this evening. A multi-day event affecting 100M+ people east of the Rockies is forecast through the weekend.
The full DTR covers those stories plus active cyber campaigns (Megalodon/Miasma software supply chain cluster, three new KEV additions), Ukraine, Ebola PHEIC status, energy/grid, aviation, and more.

2026 HURRICANE SEASON ASSESSMENT
NOAA has called the season below normal — 55% probability, El Nino-driven. That forecast is real. It is also not a reason to stand down.
– Below-normal still means 1-3 major hurricanes. One landfall at the wrong location is a full emergency regardless of what June’s forecast said.
– The Hormuz disruption has already elevated fuel costs and strained US logistics. A Gulf Coast landfall this season hits a recovery environment materially worse than any prior year.
– 18 NOAA Weather Radio transmitters are currently out of service or degraded — before the first named storm of the season.
Our full assessment covers seasonal forecast intelligence, four analytical judgments with likelihood and confidence ratings, alternative hypotheses, household and business preparedness actions, and an indicators and warnings table to keep you tracking the right signals through November.
