In this section we will discuss all things medical, from basic first aid, dealing with basic wound care, trauma and medical emergencies. We will provide some basic information, what you might encounter and what you might need to be prepared for. We will also provide you some resources for additional information.
When planning your medical preps you need to consider what situation(s) you are planning for, that is part of your threat assessment.
If you are going under the assumption that regular services like hospitals will be available, perhaps a hurricane or other severe weather event is your highest threat concern, then you are looking at short to middle term care needs, like basic trauma and wound care. This will dictate your training requirements as well as the supplies you might need. If you are looking at being in one location this will dictate your storage needs, however if you are planning on mobile/vehicle or walking/responding then you will need something like a backpack – this will somewhat dictate what you carry.
Medical Kits
We will also discuss different types of emergency medical bags, such as an individual kit you should keep with you at all times, larger trauma bags, some equipment that will help you determine what a problem might be. We will also provide you some resources for reliable equipment and supplies.
Coming soon we will have some mind maps and content suggestion lists for different types of bags, depending on their intended use.
