The full spectrum of electronic counter-surveillance is too large for this article, so we will be specifically talking about detecting radio transmissions of those who might be surveilling you. There are a number of different ways that surveillance can be done, and the selection of any specific one(s) will vary depending on what the observers/surveillance team are looking for.  Those that do not require direct observation of the target (i.e., you), when they only want to know where you are, then a GPS tracker on your vehicle is one of the easiest ways.  Unfortunately, GPS trackers can be very small and difficult to physically detect if the surveillance team can get some time with your vehicle.  Others that can be quickly deployed can be the size of a hockey puck, with the battery life proportion to the size.  If they are attached magnetically then modern vehicles limit places where they can be placed.   One ‘trick’ is to have a dirty vehicle.  Anyone brushing up against it to hide a tracker might rub dirt off and a quick walk around your vehicle might reveal this, giving you an indication to check that area.  There are GPS jammers on the market;...
